Popular Hill City Winery and Brewery Announces Closure by End of 2024 | lifestyle

Prairie Berry Winery and Miner Brewing Company near Hill City are going out of business and will close by the end of 2024.

“Starting the winery 25 years ago was incredibly difficult and dissolving it will be just as difficult,” said Matt Keck, owner and manager.

“We started the winery in my father’s 5,000-square-foot basement and created a South Dakota destination with Prairie Berry and Miner Brewing Company,” said Sandi Vojta, owner, winemaker and head brewer.

“Thanks to our customers and employees, we have 25 years of great memories,” Keck said.

“From the beginning, our vision was to provide an unforgettable South Dakota experience that people couldn’t find elsewhere,” Vojta said. “We wanted our wines and beer to be more than just a drink. We wanted them to be part of a beautiful day, a time with a loved one, a meaningful place or a treasured memory. We are so grateful for the customers who trusted us to share this with them and the employees who saw and supported this vision.”

Companies will continue to offer the same products and services until inventory runs out. They will release a few more wines and beers that are still in the tanks, but Vojta will not start anything new.

“Our kitchen, tasting room and brewery are still open and our hours are the same, so we invite people to come by and enjoy these experiences,” Keck said.

Wines can be purchased by mail order and are available at current retailers while inventory permits.
